Fabia crater is very distinctive because the two sides of its rim have very different states of freshness. In this image the bottom part of the rim is distinct and fresh but the top part of the rim is much more rounded and degraded. This image is located in Vesta's Numisia quadrangle, in Vesta's northern hemisphere. NASA's Dawn spacecraft obtained this image with its framing camera on Oct. 19, 2011.

In May 2001 Nasa's Galileo spacecraft took the highest resolution images of any of Jupiter's satellites. The images were of the southeastern perimeter of Callisto's massive Asgard impact basin and what they revealed was unlike anything seen before in the Solar System: bright, icy spires rising from an otherwise relatively flat, cratered terrain. The spires may consist of material thrown outward from a major impact billions of years ago. In this image dozens of knobby spires rise into the airless void to twice the height of the Statue of Liberty. Over the eons the dirty ice in the spires has slowly eroded, leaving the non - ice materials to slide down and collect around the base of the spires. As this location is on the side of Callisto that always faces away from Jupiter (the “anti - Jupiter” side), its jovian host would never appear above the horizon

The images were of the southeastern perimeter of Callisto's massive Asgard impact basin and what they revealed was unlike anything seen before in the Solar System: bright, icy spires rising from an otherwise relatively flat, cratered terrain. The spires may consist of material thrown outward from a major impact billions of years ago. In this image dozens of knobby spires rise into the airless void to twice the height of the Statue of Liberty. Over the eons the dirty ice in the spires has slowly eroded, leaving the non - ice materials to slide down and collect around the base of the spires. Saturn rings seen by Cassini - Saturn's rings from Cassini - Image obtained by the Cassini probe on May 9, 2007 at a distance of 1.1 million km from the planet. This natural color view shows the system of rings of Saturn up to ring F. The system of rings is composed from closest to Saturn to outermost by ring D, then C, B, the division of Cassini, A with division of Encke, F, G and E. This natural color mosaic was acquired by the Cassini spacecraft as it soared 39 degrees above the unilluminated side of the rings. Major named gaps are labeled at the top. The main rings themselves, along with the F ring, are labeled at the bottom, along with their inner and outer boundaries. The view combines 45 images - - 15 separate sets of red, green and blue images - - taken over the course of about 2.5 hours, as Cassini scanned across the rings.
