Seventh Art Productions and EXHIBITION ON SCREEN present a new film I, Claude Monet, in cinemas from 21 February 2017. Explore the life and letters of one of the most influential and successful painters of the 19th and early 20th centuries.
Award-winning director Phil Grabsky provides this fresh look at arguably one of the world's favourite artists. Based on over 2,500 letters to Monet's fellow painters, lovers and friends, the docu-film offers fascinating insight into the father of Impressionism.

The artist's life is a gripping tale - despite his vibrant, colourful images, he suffered from depression, loneliness and even suicidal thoughts. Thankfully he found some peace and tranquility in his art and in his passion for gardening. His oeuvre of works and beautiful Giverny garden are an enduring testament to his brilliance, even though in his own humility Monet never seemed quite satisfied with his own work.

I, Claude Monet was shot on location throughout Europe at the very spots he painted, giving an intimate cinematic exploration of some of the most loved scenes in western art. Grabsky recalls, 'it took a lot of time and effort to film and find the exact places [...] but it was important to do to see how Monet interpreted a view into paint on a canvas, which is fabulous.'
