A group photograph from June 1909 at Mrs Greville’s first house party after her period of mourning since the death of her husband in 1908. The guest of honour was King Edward VII, who had seated to his immediate left Georgina, Countess of Dudley and Alice Keppel (his past and present mistress respectively). Alice’s husband, George Keppel looked on from behind. Also present were the Portuguese and Austrian ambassadors. Count Albert Mensdorff, the Austrian ambassador was King Edward’s second cousin. The photograph was taken on the South lawn outside the Gold Room.
