Image description: London Territorials passing a ruined house on the shell-swept La Bassee Road, 1916. Stereoscopic photograph, World War One, Western Front (1914-1918), 1916. Unlike most British infantry regiments, all of The London Regiments battalions were part of the Territorial Force. During the war the regiment raised over 60 battalions. Many of these retained their unique identities from their days in the Volunteer Force. From a collection of 101 stereoscopic photographs entitled The Great War including the official series.
