Legendary Soviet-American coach Remi Korchemny waits for track team students to start track practice on November 13, 2003 at Logan High School in Union City, California. Behind him in the hooded sweatshirt is nationally ranked high school hurdler Kevin Craddock. Korchemny, a 71 year-old Soviet emigre to the United States, has long embodied the winning spirit. He has coached a long list of victorious athletes from Soviet sprinter Valery Borzov, who clinched two gold medals in the 1972 Olympics, to Britain's Dwain Chambers, who struck 100-meter gold thirty years later at the 2002 European championships.
