Image description: Towards the end of the Second World War, Italian partisans were fighting with German occupying troops and fascist associations in the Domodossola area. The resistance movement has ordered the immediate evacuation of wounded, sick and children from the conflict area. A transport of refugee children from Domodossola was received in Brig on 14 October 1944 by the Children's Aid of the Swiss Red Cross and passed on to the people of Valais for care and attention. In rows of two, the children and their companions walk through Brig, Switzerland, while a unit of Swiss soldiers meets them.
