Switzerland Niklaus Meienberg (b/w photo)

Swiss writer, journalist and historian Niklaus Meienberg, pictured in Berne, Switzerland, on September 11, 1975. Meienberg was born in St.Gallen in 1940. He was one of the most controversial journalists and authors in Switzerland. Meienberg worked as a correspondent for the German magazine “Stern” and “Weltwoche” in Paris, France. He was banned from writing for the Swiss newspaper company “Tages Anzeiger” from 1976 until 1990. Next to collections of his reports, he published historical works such as a book on the Swiss army general Ulrich Wille entitled “Die Welt als Wille & Wahn”, and also poetry. On September 24, 1993, Niklaus Meienberg took his own life.
