A policeman holds an activist of the right-wing Hindu party Shiv Sena at a New Delhi police station January 19. Ten Shiv Sena activists were arrested by the police for protesting outside the Pakistan embassy against the Indian cricket board's decision to hold the matches despite warning by their firebrand leader Bal Thackeray, who has vowed to prevent the matches from going ahead. Shiv Sena activists dug up the pitch in New Delhi on January 6, three weeks ahead of a test match. Shiv Sena says India and Pakistan which have bitter territorial disputes should not play sport or have cultural ties while Indian soldiers bore the brunt of militant attacks in the disputed Kashmir valley. sm/Photo by R.
