Natsume SOSEKI (Natsume Kinnosuke, 9 February 1867 - 9 December 1916) Japanese writer who lived in the Meiji period. He recounted the transition period towards the modern era, from the beginning of the industrial era of the second half of the nineteenth century to the ten years of the twentieth century. Despite his debut with a humorous novel Wagahai wa neko de aru ("I am a cat", 1905) he later emphasized fate to the solitude of modern man with the novels Sanshiro (1908), Sore kara ("E after ", 1909), Mon (" The portal ", 1910), Kokoro (" Soul ", 1914).
