ULTRA ORTHODOX JEWISH MAN DETAINED BY POLICE FOR PLANNING TO THROW EGGS AT WOMEN PRAYING AT WESTERN WALL IN JERUSALEM. An ultra-Orthodox Jewish man is detained by police for planning to throw eggs at a group of women holding a prayer meeting at the Western Wall, Judaism's holiest site June 4. The prayer meeting, held by a Jewish group called "Women of the Wall", was held following a decision by Israel's Supreme Court two weeks ago after an 11 year battle by the women to allow them to hold their services despite objections by the male-dominated ultra-Orthodox establishment. Reform Jewish women have always had access to the wall, but were banned from wearing prayer shawls and reading aloud from the Torah.
