‘14th Hussars leaving Maitland Camp to join Buller in the thick of hard fighting’, 1900. Stereoscopic photograph, Boer War, 1900. The 14th (King's) Hussars took part in the battles leading up to the Relief of Ladysmith (14-27 September 1900) as part of General Sir Redvers Buller’s army that forced Louis Botha’s Boers to lift their siege of the town. Maitland Camp was in Cape Town.
