Image title
Table showing crop revenue from Agra. These statistical tables show the revenue collected from the spring and autumn harvest of Agra between 1562 and 1580. Commodities collected included sugarcane, indigo, hemp, poppies, cotton, pulses, rice and melons. The revenue was measured in copper coins (dam). Abu'l Fazl's A'in-i Akbari ('Regulations of Akbar') provided a detailed geographical, historical and statistical account of the empire. It was the first work of its kind, based on private memoirs, imperial archives, and sources in many different languages. It remained in use as a reference source until the 19th century.
