Motorcycle despatch rider, with bandaged head stands by his Douglas motorbike and points towards a burning village. The Hotel Cecil is mentioned at the bottom of the poster; situated in the Strand in central London, it was a recruiting office for the 23rd and 24th (Service) Battalions, Royal Fusiliers (City of London Regiment), known as the 1st and 2nd Sportsmen’s Battalions. One of 49 posters, World War One (1914-1918).
