Autograph letter signed to Andre Breton, 6 February 1918 (pen & ink on paper) (see also 2909401)
G. Apollinaire Villa Molière, 57 Bd Montmorency Paris").
With pulmonary congestion, the poet was being treated at the Villa Molière where he had been trepanned in 1916.
This letter is exceptional because Apollinaire evokes Freud. "Will you come and see me when you bring me the book on Freud's theories Allard told me that I know a lot these theories which I have sometimes written and incidentally I have heard much by strong aliéniste eloquent and strong man of letters from my friends: Jean Vinchon ". Apollinaire also regrets a missed meeting Breton and Aragon because of a visit of Italian Minister of War. "I get up now, but do not go out of my room." He asks an article in Breton that he will spend in a magazine and asked him to "ask the young Aragon if he would not like her to write (at its option) Breasts of Tiresias on. If he comes to me with you and if he agrees I talk to him about some essential points concerning this piece "," cordially Guillaume Apollinaire ".
This is the only known letter Apollinaire André Breton in private hands.
