Oil painting on canvas, Edward Harpur (1713 – 1761) and his Sister Catherine Harpur, later Lady Gough (d.1740) as Children by John Verelst (fl 1698 - London 1734). The boy dressed in red, stands on the left holding a grape vine. The girl, dressed in blue with a white apron, stands on the right, a pink rose in her right hand. It seems odd that Sir John commissioned two different artists to paint four of his children in two groups of two in the same year, particularly when the style of the artists is so different.
