Image description

Juan Jose Lopez Marena holds his son Jose David as he stands in front of his new home made of scraps of lumber in the Ciudad Sandino refugee camp outside the capital city of Managua, November 11. He lost his oceanside home when it was destroyed by Hurricane Mitch and was forced to move to the camp along with thousands of others. Approximately 10,000 people are dead in Honduras and Nicaragua as a result of the storm. Approximately 60 percent of the infrastructure of the Central American nations was destroyed by the storm.
