Riots in Munich after the Dutschke assassination attempt in 1968

Archival copies of the Bildzeitung fall into the yard of the book trade house in Munich. Numerous demonstrators entered the newspaper printing plant and the editorial offices of the Bildzeitung newspaper in the night of 12 April 1968 and wreaked havoc there. The assassination attempt on Berlin's SDS ideologist Rudi Dutschke triggered a wave of protest demonstrations in Germany. Dutschke was gunned down and critically injured in front of the office of the Socialist German Student Union at Kurf��rstendamm on April 11,1968 in Berlin. The demonstrations that lasted the whole Easter weekend were mainly directed against buildings of the Axel Springer publishing house, which was described by the SDS as the "centre of the systematic smear campaign against political minorities". usage worldwide
