The Manhattan Bridge may not have the glamor and fame of the Brooklyn Bridge or the Queensboro bridge, but nobody can deny that it is a piece of iron in suspension of great beauty. Built by Polish engineer Ralph Modjeski and designed by Leon Moisseiff, was opened to traffic in 1909, the youngest of suspension bridges crossing the East River.
