The demonstrators, who marched from the capital's main square to the site of the massacre, marked the 30th anniversary of one of Mexico's darkest chapters, when soldiers and police openend fire on a large student demonstrators killing up to 300, according to some accounts. News of the massacre, which happened only 10 days before the inauguration of the Mexico City 1968 Olympics, was censored and the subject became taboo in the Mexican media for years and the details of the event are only now begining to filter out of government archives.
