The 72-year-old homeowner discovered a mass grave in his Phnom Penh front yard while he was digging up a tree. At least 10 skeletons were excavated, including the larger-boned skeleton of a Westerner. U.S. Defense Department officials said on Friday they would have the larger skull and bones tested in a lab in Hawaii to determine if they are those of Michael Scott Deeds, an American killed at Tuol Sleng and whose remains were never recovered.
