Giessbach

Bernese Oberland Giessbach A few steps from the station of the Brünig Railway is the berth for the steamers travelling on the lake. We now climb one of the main sights of the Oberland after a short drive, the Giessbachfall. From a distance we can see the foaming waters in which the lowest fall falls into the lake and for a few moments the top cases appear. A comfortable path or a cable car leads us from the landing site to the large, elegant hotel, from whose terrace we can best overlook the white-shimmering amounts of water coming from all over the seven traps, all differently from each other, the second pouring over the rock wall that you can walk behind the fall and see the landscape through the thundering water as if through a veil. What makes these cases so attractive is the height (about 300 m) and the splendor of the forest through which they fall, which in its deep green colour forms a wonderful contrast to the foaming mass.
