FEATURE MATCHER TO GO WITH STORY BC-MIDEAST-LEBANON - Mustafa Radwan Younis rolls his wheelchair among the squalor of the Palestinian refugee camp of Bourj al-Barajneh in Beirut. Mussa, who fled his hometown of Haifa in 1948 along with around 400,000 Palestinians to Lebanon, severed his legs during the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait, where he was a soldier, in 1990 and was thrown out of the country. The head of a family of eight, Mussa is desperate and unemployed like the countless Palestinian victims of the Arab-Israeli conflict. The Palestinian refugees now living in Lebanon face the bleakest prospects; Israel has vowed never to allow them back to their homeland, Syria and the Palestinian Authority have so far not made an issue of the refugees and the Beirut government insist they must leave Lebanon.
