Evicted family sleeping in the street, Ashton-under-Lyne, 20 June 1950. Dutchman Arnold Leeseman and his father-in-law sleeping outside no 36 Layard Street, Greater Manchester. Police put red warning lamps to alert traffic. Furniture is piled under coverings. The family was evicted yesterday under a court order. Wife Mary and two children, Christina aged 2 and Maureen, 6 months, are staying with neighbours. The Leesemans had been given until June 9 to get out as the house had been sold.
