Department Store Fire Frankfurt 1968

On April 3,1968, the firefighters sighted the damage on the burnt-out fourth floor of Frankfurt's "Kaufhof". Fire broke out in two of the city's department stores that night. Explosive cartridges at the scene of the crime and a call to the Frankfurt editorial office of the dpa Deutsche Presse-Agentur suggest suspicion of politically motivated attacks. As it turns out, the perpetrators include the later RAF (Rote Armee Fraktion) members Andreas Baader and Gudrun Ensslin.
