Creda New Series electric cooker fitted with Credastat thermostat, 1933. Patented by the Credenda Conduit Co and made by the Simplex Electric Company, both of Birmingham. This was one of the early electric cookers to be fitted with an automatic oven thermostat to control oven temperatures and was in daily use in the donor's home from 1934 to 1967. Fully enamelled, like all cookers of the 1930s, with two hotplates - the heating element of the square plate also heats the grill beneath; the round plate included a newly-introduced spiral tube element which glowed when hot.
