COUP LEADER GEORGE SPEIGHT WALKS WITH SECURITY CHIEF LIGAIRI AFTER WELCOMING CEREMONY AT PARLIAMENT COMPOUND IN SUVA. Local reports say that Ligairi is the co-leader of the coup and this is the first time the two have been seen in public since the coup began on May 19. Talks between the military and Speight's group may resume shortly after the members of the two groups agreed to meet late this afternoon. The release of the remaining 27 hostages, including deposed ethnic-Indian Prime Minister Mahendra Chaudhry and many members of his former Fiji Labor Party government, still depends on the signing of documents regarding the appointment of the civilian interim government and the new President.
