James Stewart (20 May 1908 - 2 July 1997) and Grace Kelly (12 November 1929 - 14 September 1982) play respectively a photojournalist immobilized by the fracture of a leg and a non-wearer professional belonging to high society, his fiancée. The boredom of inactivity causes man to look into the lives of his neighbors, through the windows left perpetually open due to the suffocating heat; so, by chance, he senses that a crime has been committed, and with the help of a detective friend, but especially his girlfriend and the nurse who assists him, he tries to expose the culprit, running themselves serious dangers.
