CARIBBEAN FORESTERS IN SCOTLAND DURING WARTIME , 1941 (35MM)

Skilled volunteer workers in the British Honduras Forestry Unit (BHFU) strip bark from felled trees in a Scottish Highlands forest in 1941. One worker dons his gas mask for the camera. The BHFU was a civilian body of around 900 forestry workers who travelled from British Honduras (now Belize) to Scotland to help support the war effort during the Second World War. This rare colour wartime footage was shot by socialite and amateur documentary filmmaker Rosie Newman, daughter of Bavarian born mining magnate and financier Sir Sigusmund Neumann, and features in her personal film "Britain at War".
