Image description

Fire at the castle. A violent fire broke out at night in the ancient castle where, not far from Perth (Scotland), the Baronet Sir David Moncreiffe and his sister Elizabeth lived. Near their rooms there were thirteen Alsatian dogs. The young woman, awakened in her sleep, would improvise a rope with twisted sheets and fell into the void; at a certain point the rope broke; she fell, however, bearing minor injuries. The brother, in a generous attempt to save the dogs, wasted too much time and perished in the flames. No trace of his body has been found again. Illustration for La Domenica Del Corriere, 1 December 1957.
