Switzerland World War II Bombing Rafz, 1945 (b/w photo)

During the funeral procession of 26 February for the seven victims of the bombing of Rafz, people lined the local street. After an allied fighter plane of the US Air Force was bombarded by the Swiss Air Defence (Flab), the bomber went on to attack the border town of Rafz in the canton of Zurich on February 22, 1945 and dropped six bombs near the church, causing great devastation. A direct hit completely destroys a single-family house and kills all the people in it, namely the whole Sigerist family - consisting of father, organist, mother and five children. When the funeral procession to the cemetery begins on February 26, a large number of people line the street during the funeral of the victims.
