He announces that he will bring Rama back to Ayodhya and stay in the forest himself. At this juncture, appears, at the bottom from the left, Manthara whom Kaikeyi blames as the cause of all this woe. She is trampled on and dragged around the palace by her hair by Shatrughna until dissuaded by Bharata. She is trampled on and dragged around the palace by her hair by Shatrughna until dissuaded by Bharata. He tells his brother that he would have done the same to his mother, had he not been aware that Rama would have utterly repudiated him for it.
