Image description

Using baking soda and a brush, one of two gold medals to be presented to Canadian pairs figure skaters Jamie Sale and David Pelletier, is given an antique finish by a technician at the O.C. Tanner factory in Salt Lake City February 15, 2002. O.C. Tanner, the makers of all medals presented at the Salt Lake 2002 Winter Olympic Games, had one spare medal in a vault and had to manufacture one extra to present to the skaters. Sale and Pelletier were awarded a gold medal in pairs skating by the IOC after an inquiry into the results of the events found wrong doing. REUTERS/Gary Hershorn GMH/HB
