Veteran U.S. pilots Fred Hall (L), Bill Morrissey (C) and Gail Halvorsen (R), who all piloted C-54 Sky master bombers during the Soviet blockade of the German capital in 1948 and 1949, during a ceremony at the airlift memorial at Berlin's Tempelhof airport commemorating the 50th anniversary of the American and British Airlift, May 12. Hailverson, Morrissey and Hall were pilots of the so-called "candy bombers" which supplied West-Berlin with vital supplies such as food, fuel and medicine.
