The Surrender of Cronje's Army after Paardeberg, 1900. On retreating from besieging Kimberley Cronje was surrounded by the British, who closed in on him near Paardeberg. He made an obstinate resistance at Koodoosrand Drift on the Modder River, but was compelled to surrender with four thousand men to Lord Roberts on 27 February 1900, the anniversary of Majuba.
