Image description: No 4 Mk I(T) .303 inch bolt action sniper rifle, 1944. This weapon is fitted with a No 32 Mk I telescopic sight (1942) to magnify targets and a special snipers cheek piece. There are nine notches on butt. Snipers often waited for hours, motionless, until a suitable target was observed, often shooting an officer, non-commissioned officer or radio operator so as to degrade a units fighting effectiveness.
