How films are made: Battery of Cameras (colour litho)
Battery of Cameras. When an important picture is being filmed it is usual to use several cameras, as in our illustration. The film in the forward spool is wound into the spool behind it as the picture is taken, the full spool being then labelled and rushed to the developing department. The cameras are driven by electricity, and the operating of the modern film camera requires the greatest skill and technical knowledge. It will be clear that many thousands of pounds could be lost if the actual photography, which is after all the final act in the making of a film, were imperfect. Illustration for one of a set of cigarette cards on the subject of How Films are Made, issued by B Morris in 1934.
