Case: the bell top with handle flanked by foliate clasped cone finials to the angles, the chamfered angles with fruiting swags issuing from corbels, the arched pierced foliate side frets with gilt banding, raised on leaf scroll feet. Dial: the 5 inch arched dial plate with restored enamel centre dial inscribed for the Turkish market (see footnote) and signed 'MARKVIK MARKHAM' (sic.), later pierced steel trefoil hands, the subsidiary four-tune music selection dial inscribed 'SABAC HAFIF VKHAC DEVIR A MINUETT A MARCH', with foliate cast spandrels. Movement: six ring-turned pillars, triple line fusees and verge escapement, with hour strike on bell and music every three hours via the 6 cm. long pin barrel with twelve hammers on a nest of six bells, the backplate engraved with a profusion of foliate scrolls and signed 'Markwick Markham London'.
