statue of Montuemhat

statue of Montuemhat-Montuemhat was a member of a family of priests of Amun and Montu based at Thebes. He held the titles Fourth Priest of Amun, Mayor of Thebes and Governor of Upper Egypt, and lived between the 25th and 26th Dynasties. Many inscriptions and statues are known for this man, highlighting his importance during this tumultuous period. This particular statue was found in two pieces, but has since been restored. Montuemhat stands in a conventional manner, his left leg striding forward, and his arms placed firmly against his sides. His fists are clenched, each holding a folded cloth – a symbol of authority.
