Crimean War. It was in November 1854 that the weather added to the horrors of the war. First the wind rose, then it began to pour with rain, then the snow started. Food and warm clothes were in desperately short supply as the Crimean winter settled in. It was to get worse - much worse. Original artwork for illustration on p5 of Look and Learn issue no 490 (5 June 1971). Lent for scanning by The Gallery of Illustration.
