American soldiers, left, reach the Swiss border during the Second World War on 21 September 1944 near Boncourt in the Ajoie. The original image legend is. “New neighbors on our western border. American at a Swiss tollgate. Two American officers, who reached the Swiss border somewhere in the Ajoie in a jeep car, got out and talked to a Swiss officer. In the company of the Americans, there is a French Maquisard who serves as their guide in the jagged terrain of the French Jura.” The picture is provided with a censorship number, which allowed the picture to be published.
