Ultra-Orthodox Jewish men pray in the ancient cemetery on the Mount of Olives over the grave of a holy sage on the eve of the Jewish New Year which begins at sundown October 1. The Jews are praying for the late Rabbi Avraham Porush's soul to intervene on their behalf with God to forgive them for any wrongdoings they committed during the past year. According to Jewish tradition, in 10 days time, on the high holy day of Yom Kippur, God decides who will live and who will die in the coming year.
