Turin's cardinal Giovanni Saldarini looks April 16 at the silver casket were the Turin Shroud is kept (that was saved from a fire in April 97 ) which is displayed in the Shroud museum. The Turin Shroud, an ancient linen sheet revered by some Christians as the burial cloth that wrapped Christ's body after his crucifixion, goes on display to the public in the Turin's cathedral from April 19. This is only the fourth time this century the Shroud had gone on show to the public. It will next be put on display in 2000, to mark the Roman Catholic Church's Holy Year.
