Image description

Carol Estes (L) holds up a painting of her murdered daughter Deborah Estes during a press conference held by families of the victims of Green River serial killer Gary Leon Ridgway at SeaTac City Hall in SeaTac, Washington on November 5, 2003. Pictured with Carol Estes is her surviving daughter Virginia Graham (R). Ridgway pleaded guilty earlier in the day to being the infamous Green River serial killer in a King County courthouse. Ridgway said in a chilling confession read in court that he murdered 48 women because they were prostitutes, he hated them and knew they would not be missed. Ridgway, added in a confession read out by a prosecutor in open court, "I killed so many women I have a hard time keeping them straight." Ridgway pleaded guilty as part of a plea bargain with prosecutors in which his life would be spared. REUTERS/Anthony P. Bolante APB
