Image description

Fireman Al Broadfoot is reflected in the steam dial of a rare Canadian Pacific Railroad steam locomotive in the Port Coquitlam, British Columbia rail yards following its three-year restoration, May 3, 2002. Known as the 'Empress,' the CPR 2816 is a class H1b Hudson type locomotive built by Montreal Locomotive Works in December 1930. The locomotive initially ran between Calgary, Alberta and Fort William, Ontario and was retired in May 1960 after operating as a commuter train in the Montreal area. The Empress is the only surviving H1b Hudson and one of only a handful of preserved and operating CPR steam locomotives in North America. REUTERS/Andy Clark AC/SV
