MILESTINES CATALOGUE - Swiss writer, playwright and essayist Friedrich Duerrenmatt, pictured at the end of the 1940ies. Duerrenmatt was born in Konolfingen in the canton of Berne, Switzerland, on January 5, 1921 as the son of a Protestant pastor. His plays “The Visit” (1956), “The Physicists” (1962) or his comedy “Romulus the Great” became worldwide successes. In 1986 he received the Georg Buechner Prize for his large body of work. Duerrenmatt died on December 14, 1990, in Neuchatel.
